Jernstrom Engineering has over 25 years of experience providing quality mechanical engineering and consulting services for commercial, institutional, and industrial projects. We strive to deliver cost-effective, sustainable solutions that incorporate energy efficient designs tailored to the unique characteristics of each project and produce reliable designs that perform in Alaska’s challenging arctic climate. Our projects have taken us over 100 different communities in Alaska and beyond.

Business History

Robert Jernstrom, P.E. founded Jernstrom Engineering, LLC in 1993 with the goal of serving Alaskans.  As an engineering consulting firm, Jernstrom Engineering has provided quality mechanical engineering services on a wide variety of projects across the State of Alaska that range in size and scope from small remodels to large commercial, industrial and institutional new construction projects. This experience has led Jernstrom Engineering to specialize in the design of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, piping, and controls systems, as well as master planning and performing code and condition surveys.

 

Since 2016, Gregory Jernstrom has acted as the managing principal of Jernstrom Engineering. As part of this position, Greg oversees the final design, project management, and scheduling aspects of the business. Greg is experienced in designing HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems and brings experience in LEED and energy compliance projects.

Jernstrom Engineering provides specialized heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, piping, and controls systems designs for residential, commercial, industrial and institutional projects throughout Alaska.

Team

Greg Jernstrom, P.E., LEED AP

Greg earned degrees in mechanical engineering and engineering management from the University of Alaska and is now the managing principal and an owner at Jernstrom Engineering. Raised and working in Alaska, Greg is familiar with the logistics of engineering in our challenging climate. He has gained extensive design experience during his twelve years of consulting and has worked on a wide variety of projects ranging from small tenant improvements to large new construction projects, as well as various LEED and energy compliance projects.
